Dr. Hargis Ann M. Hargis, DVM, MS

Anatomic Pathologist, ACVP
Dermatopathology


Dr. Hargis received a BS, DVM, and MS in veterinary pathology from Colorado State University. She is a Diplomate in the ACVP. Dr. Hargis joined Phoenix Central Laboratory as a consultant in veterinary anatomic pathology in 1990. She is also the owner of DermatoDiagnostics, a veterinary dermatopathology practice. Specializing in dermatopathology, her research interests include familial canine dermatomyositis, sebaceous adenitis, and solar associated dermatitis and neoplasia. In l988 she received the Ralston Purina Award in Small Animal Researach for her work on Familial Canine Dermatomyositis.

For 10 years, Dr. Hargis was an Assistant and then Associate Professor in the Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology at Washington State University. She completed a sabbatical in Veterinary Dermatology at the University of California at Davis, has served on the editorial board of Veterinary Dermatology, and is a member of the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology where she served as research chairperson for 8 years. She authored the "Integumentary System" chapter in Special Veterinary Pathology, and numerous manuscripts and abstracts.

Interests outside veterinary pathology include her dogs, quilting, and TaeKwanDo. Dr. Hargis is married to Denny Liggitt, also a veterinary pathologist and professor in the Department of Comparative Medicine, University of Washington, School of Medicine.
