Dr. Sturtevant’s undergraduate degree is in medical technology. She worked in that field as a generalist and in microbiology, and completed a master’s degree before entering veterinary school. Faye received her DVM from the University of Illinois in 1980. After practicing small animal medicine in Massachusetts, she began a residency in clinical pathology at the University of Florida and she returned to the University of Illinois to complete a combined residency - PhD program in 1987. After completing her doctorate, Faye took a position as a clinical pathologist in a reference lab in southern California, but moved to Seattle in 1989 to assist in the inception of Phoenix Central Laboratory. She welcomes consultations in cytology, clinical pathology, and hematology. Additionally, Dr. Sturtevant provides "Wet Lab" continuing education on urinalysis and hematology. In the near future, basic cytology will join these session selections. Her interests include antiques, aviation, vintage automobiles, SCUBA diving, racquetball, and travel.
