Dr. Sandy Willis, our small animal internal medicine specialist, is available to consult on internal medicine and diagnostic testing. Dr. Willis facilitates the Continuing Education program offered to the clients of Phoenix Laboratory. These events include on-site and off-site wetlabs and seminars available to veterinary technicians and assistants, as well as veterinarians.

Dr. Willis, board certified in the ACVIM, graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. She completed a small animal internship at the University of Minnesota and a residency and master’s program at the University of Saskatchewan.

Dr. Willis worked in private small animal practice in California and Wisconsin for two years and later served as a customer and veterinary affairs manager for Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Inc. before coming to Phoenix Lab in 1994. She left in 2002 to pursue opportunities in internal medicine and shelter medicine before returning to Phoenix in January, 2009. She is very delighted to be back. Dr. Willis is past president of the Washington State Veterinary Medical Association and serves as a Washington representative to the American College of Veterinary Medicine. She is co-host and creator of “Ask the Vet” radio show airing Sunday mornings on AM 570KVI. As an internist, Dr. Willis particularly enjoys diagnostic testing and diseases of the endocrine system and the liver. She is passionate about educating pet owners to be the best health advocates in partnership with their family veterinarian.

Dr. Willis serves as staff for Bill the Black Cat, Lilly the Himalayan, and Tiger (you guessed it) the tiger cat. Dr. Willis hobbies are triathlons and cycling, wine appreciation, the arts and reading.
